Discover Scuba Diving (non-certified)

Discover scuba diving will let you experience the basic skills of scuba diving in the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. There aren’t many dives around the world that will guarantee you sightings of over 300 sharks and rays all at once. But the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo can. Take the plunge and come face to face with 700 pounds of lean muscle, 300 razor sharp teeth and 105 million year’s worth of evolution. These sharks are waiting for you. It’s perfectly safe, and it’s definitely breath taking. The Aquarium is the largest suspended aquarium in the world with a capacity of 10 million litres of salt water and houses one of the most diverse collections of sharks. There are over 420 sharks and rays in the tank, including the world’s biggest collection of sand tiger sharks. Other shark species include black-tip and white-tip reef sharks, zebra sharks, wobbegongs, grey reef sharks and nurse sharks. There are also many ray species in the Aquarium including cow-nose rays, fan-tails, eagle rays, leopard rays, shave-nose rays and bowmouth guitarfish.
Discover Scuba Diving is an introductory part of scuba diving. You can participate in this programme even if you don’t know how to swim, as long as you are comfortable in the water.

Please note that this experience is designed for first-time and non-certified divers and is subject to availability. Participants must be in good health with no heart, lung, or sinus conditions, and pregnant guests are not permitted. A medical form is required and should accomplished prior the activity. The minimum age to participate is 10 years old. Advance booking of 2–3 days is necessary, and guests must arrive at least two hours before their scheduled session at the Underwater Zoo entrance on the 2nd floor of Dubai Mall. The introduction session begins daily at 11:00 AM with our PADI-certified instructors, followed by dive timings at 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, and 7:00 PM, though these may change without prior notice. The experience starts with a short safety and theory briefing, practice on the training platform, and then a 20–30 minute dive in the 10-million-liter aquarium where the water is maintained at 23°C. After the session, participants will receive a Certificate of Participation; however, this does not qualify as a diver license. A 12-hour no-fly period is required after diving. Guests must bring their own swimsuit and towel, and optional GoPro camera rental is available and can be paid for directly at the venue.
